The Question about Fasting
18 On one occasion the followers of John the Baptist and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came to Jesus and asked him, “Why is it that the disciples of John the Baptist and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but yours do not?”
18 John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting, and they came and asked him, “Why do John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”
18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

18 Ivanovi su učenici i farizeji postili. I dođu neki i kažu mu: "Zašto učenici Ivanovi i učenici farizejski poste, a tvoji učenici ne poste?"
18 Ucenicii lui Ioan şi Fariseii obişnuiau să postească. Ei au venit şi au zis lui Isus: "Pentru ce ucenicii lui Ioan şi ai Fariseilor postesc, iar ucenicii Tăi nu postesc?"
18 Et erant discipuli Joannis et pharisæi jejunantes : et veniunt, et dicunt illi : Quare discipuli Joannis et pharisæorum jejunant, tui autem discipuli non jejunant ?
19 Jesus answered, “Do you expect the guests at a wedding party to go without food? Of course not! As long as the bridegroom is with them, they will not do that.
19 Jesus said to them, “Can the groomsmen fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they can’t fast.

19 Et ait illis Jesus : Numquid possunt filii nuptiarum, quamdiu sponsus cum illis est, jejunare ? Quanto tempore habent secum sponsum, non possunt jejunare.
20 But the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day. 20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. 20 p 2.20 Alusión a la muerte de Jesús. 20  Es wird aber die zeit komen / das der Breutigam von jnen genomen wird / Denn werden sie fasten. 20 Vor veni zile, când va fi luat mirele de la ei, şi atunci vor posti în ziua aceea.
20 Venient autem dies cum auferetur ab eis sponsus : et tunc jejunabunt in illis diebus.
21 “No one uses a piece of new cloth to patch up an old coat, because the new patch will shrink and tear off some of the old cloth, making an even bigger hole.
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, or else the patch shrinks and the new tears away from the old, and a worse hole is made. 21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

21 "Nitko ne prišiva krpe od sirova sukna na staro odijelo. Inače nova zakrpa vuče sa starog odijela pa nastane još veća rupa."
21 Nimeni nu coase un petic de postav nou la o haină veche; altfel, peticul de postav nou rupe o parte din cel vechi, şi mai rea ruptură se face.
21 Nemo assumentum panni rudis assuit vestimento veteri : alioquin aufert supplementum novum a veteri, et major scissura fit.
22 Nor does anyone pour new wine into used wineskins, because the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins.” 22 No one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the skins, and the wine pours out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins.” 22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

22 Et nemo mittit vinum novum in utres veteres : alioquin dirumpet vinum utres, et vinum effundetur, et utres peribunt : sed vinum novum in utres novos mitti debet.
