17 Gospod je namreč Duh, kjer pa je Gospodov Duh, tam je svoboda.

7 Toda govorim vam resnico: za vas je bolje, da grem; kajti če ne grem, Tolažnik ne bo prišel k vam; če pa odidem, vam ga bom poslal.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

8 Ko pride on, bo ovrgel svet Ali prepričal svet, da se moti ali dokazal svetu krivdo. glede greha, pravičnosti in sodbe:

8 When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;
|

9 glede greha, ker vame ne verujejo,
|
9 about sin, because they don’t believe in me;
|
|
10 glede pravičnosti, ker odhajam k Očetu in me ne boste več videli,
|
10 about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;
|
|
11 glede sodbe pa, ker je vladar tega sveta Tj. hudič. obsojen.
|
11 about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.
|
|
12 Še veliko vam imam povedati, a zdaj ne morete nositi.
|
12 “I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.
|
|
13 Ko pa pride on, Duh resnice, vas bo uvedel v vso resnico, ker ne bo govoril sam od sebe, temveč bo povedal, kar bo slišal, in oznanjal vam bo prihodnje reči.
|
13 However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

16 jaz pa bom prosil Očeta in dal vam bo drugega Tolažnika, Ali Pomočnika, Zagovornika, Posrednika, Prijatelja; podobno v v. 26; 15,26; 16,7. da bo ostal pri vas vekomaj:

16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, Greek Parakleton: Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, and Comfortor. that he may be with you forever,—

17 Duha resnice, ki ga svet ne more prejeti, ker ga ne vidi in ne pozna. Vi ga poznate, ker ostaja Ali prebiva. pri vas in bo Različica je. v vas.
|
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

25 Če živimo po Ali v. Duhu, tudi delajmo po Ali v. Duhu.
|
25 If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.
